Ottawa Tourism
Member Program for Accessible Tourism
Ottawa Tourism recognizes that accessibility is both a social responsibility and a significant business opportunity. Travellers with disabilities represent a large and underserved market, with unique needs and high expectations for accurate, reliable information. To better serve this market segment, Rev Hospitality Co. worked with Ottawa Tourism to develop a comprehensive capacity-building program to help tourism operators provide better experiences for travellers with disabilities.
Through research, interviews, and community input, we created a practical framework that helps businesses communicate and deliver accessible tourism offerings more confidently and consistently. We also provided tools and recommendations for Ottawa Tourism to improve marketing efforts, promote accessible travel experiences, and strengthen its own internal practices around accessibility.
Project Highlights
Member Accessibility Program
We designed a capacity-building program to help businesses improve accessible tourism products and share information with travellers clearly and confidently. This program is supported by structured training to enhance transparency, accountability, and shared commitment to inclusive customer service.
Experiential Learning Tours
We designed tours that allowed members to experience accessibility from a visitor’s perspective. Accompanied by a consultant and wheelchair user, participants explored various properties to identify physical and service-related barriers firsthand.
Actionable 12-Month Plan
A detailed action plan was developed to guide the rollout and implementation of capacity-building initiatives. This included detailed steps for onboarding members, building community partnerships, promoting accessibility offerings, and launching targeted training sessions.
