Strategic Plan & Business Plan

The International Institute for Environmental Studies (IIES) is a global network of more than 30 partner universities and research institutions focused on interdisciplinary environmental research, knowledge exchange, and professional development. Rev Hospitality Co. was engaged to develop a three-year Strategic Plan and Business Plan to support the Institute’s transition from its initial growth phase into a long-term operating model.

Our work focused on establishing clear priorities and translating the Institute’s mission into a realistic, phased plan for growth. Using a hospitality and operations lens, we looked at the Institute’s annual conference, exchange programs, and learning activities as core programs that require clear systems, capacity planning, and sustainable resourcing. This informed the development of a concise and practical implementation framework for sustainable growth.

Project Highlights

Peer benchmarking
We conducted benchmarking research across more than 20 international organizations to understand the Institute’s market positioning and articulate a clear value proposition.

Mission and vision alignment
We refined mission and vision statements for better alignment across leadership, partners, and the Board of Directors, ensuring that future decision-making is guided by a common direction.

Funding and governance strategy
We developed a funding and governance strategy designed to strengthen financial sustainability and support more effective oversight as the Institute continues to grow.

Next Steps

The IIES is looking forward to hosting its 10th Annual conference in June 2026, where both the new Strategic Plan and Business Plan will be shared with network partners.
